Ecommerce in Zimbabwe: common questions.
Direct answers to what business owners ask before launching an online store.
How much does an ecommerce website cost in Zimbabwe?
Smaller online shops start at $550 once-off (Standard package). Larger catalogues, multi-vendor stores, or custom features start at $800+ (Premium) and are quoted after a scope review. Your first year online, your own .co.zw web address, and business email are included in every package.
How many products can I have?
Standard at $550 supports a small catalogue (we upload up to 20 products for you, and you can add more yourself via a CSV template). Beyond 100 products, we recommend Premium starting at $800+. We will confirm the right tier during the scoping call.
Do you upload products for me?
Yes for the first 20 products on the Standard package. After that, we hand over a CSV template you can use to upload more yourself. If you have a large catalogue and would like us to do the upload, we quote that as part of Premium.
Which payment gateways do you support?
PayNow is the default for Zimbabwe-facing stores (it accepts EcoCash, OneMoney, Visa, and Mastercard). For diaspora-facing stores we can integrate Stripe or PayPal. Premium can integrate multiple gateways.
What about shipping and delivery?
We set up shipping zones and rates as part of Standard. A typical Zim setup is Bulawayo / Harare / National with flat rates per zone. Premium can support more complex zone-based or weight-based rules.
Do you manage my store after launch?
We hand over a working store and a training video so you can manage products, orders, and stock yourself. If you want us to handle ongoing product uploads or store management, we can quote that as a separate retainer.
What about ongoing fees?
Your first year online, your own .co.zw web address, and your business email are included in your once-off package fee. After that, $75 per year keeps your website running, your web address active, your business email working, and covers basic upkeep. Payment fees (for example PayNow's transaction fees) are charged by the payment provider directly to you.
Can I sell on WhatsApp as well as the website?
Yes. Every TechTribe ecommerce site includes a WhatsApp button on product pages so customers can ask a question or place an order via WhatsApp. Some Zimbabwean shops convert better through WhatsApp than at the checkout. We support both.
How long does an ecommerce website take to build?
Standard ecommerce sites typically launch within 2 to 3 weeks. Premium with larger catalogues and more custom features takes 3 to 5 weeks depending on scope. Most of the timeline is spent on product data and brand assets.
Do you build real estate websites with online listings?
Yes, but real estate websites and listing platforms are a specialist offer with their own pricing and features. See our real estate websites page for details.
