Why is no one visiting my website?

You’ve probably been told that if you design a beautiful website you’ll attract lots of customers online, alas, no one is visiting your site! Don’t stress, you’re not alone. This is a problem that is haunting many businesses in Zimbabwe and beyond. Faced with this challenge, Zimbabwean Realtors have resorted to posting their property listings on third-party websites that shave lots of visitors.

The fact that you’re reading this, you’re probably one of them or you’re facing the same challenge.
There’s no need to go scampering for cover from other websites, here is a quick guide to help you improve your own.

The main reason why people aren’t coming to your website is that they don’t even know that you built one.

Here are 5 things you need to do to get people coming to your website;

1. Search Engine Optimisation

Optimise your website content so that it comes top in search engine results. An easy way to do this is to start blogging. Let’s assume you are a Realtor in Zimbabwe. Write lots of blogs on your website that provide valuable information that educates and informs your audiences. Your Real Estate customers are probably looking for information on Google on the legal processes involved in buying/selling a house, ZIMRA requirements, ideal homes, common problems encountered in the buying/selling process and how people are duped of their monies by unscrupulous agents. The more you provide such valuable information, that your prospects and customers are likely looking for on Google, the more visitors you’ll attract to your website.

2. Create a social media presence

Take your website as the sea and social media handles as rivers that flow to the sea. All the information on your social media handles should flow to your website. So find a hailer and make a lot of noise about your website and you can do this on your social media channels. Make sure most of your social media posts have links to your website. Give short teasers on social media posts that link to long-form content on your website. That way you attract traffic to your website.

3. Link-building

When your website links with other websites it gains authority. When you link other like-minded businesses in your posts they will in turn link you up in theirs. One good turn deserves another. Link building grows your online reputation and also helps you to rank better in Google Search Engine Results. The better you rank, the more likely you are to find visitors to your website

4. Web-speeds

Make sure your website is mobile-friendly and does not take forever to load. People and so is Google, hate websites that take forever to load. This is why the new Google algorithm is ranking lowly websites that have a complex user experience. Make sure your users enjoy their tour of your website

5. Email Marketing

Find a way of collecting emails of your prospects and customers and keep them informed on new information and exciting offers that are on your website. This is a sure way of keeping them coming to your website.
Develop your web-copy in a way that appeals not only to your audiences but also to Search engines.
